It’s almost here…….NYCOM Fall Training School, September 15-19, 2025, in beautiful Lake Placid! If you haven’t considered attending, please do. NYCOM FTS is an amazing experience full of educational opportunities, networking and growth for Clerks no matter how long you’ve been clerking. If you’re attending for the first time, make sure to participate in the theme night “NOLA” New Orleans, Louisiana. At FTS we like to go all out for the theme nights. The NYSACVC Annual Meeting will be Thursday, September 18th during lunch, please check the box on your NYCOM registration saying that you are attending the NYSACVC Annual Meeting instead of general lunch. In the near future, please be on the lookout for the registration table sign-up sheet, it’s an important task and many hands make light work. Volunteering for one time slot would be a huge help to the association and a great way to meet your colleagues.
The NYSACVC Executive Committee has been working hard to ensure that we’re supporting all Clerks to the best of our ability. Look for a survey in the coming weeks regarding what topics you’d like to discuss at the Clerks Seminar class at FTS. It’s a roundtable discussion format driven by your questions/concerns with NYCOM, OSC and NYSACVC staff to give answers and guidance. Please complete the survey when you have a chance to give us some time to prepare for the topics raised.
Thank you to the Clerks that participated in the IIMC Educational Program in Latham, NY this past July. It was amazing to see a room filled with 32 participants, with 18 Village & 6 Cities. NYSACVC would like to extend a sincere thank you to the IIMC Committee members Liz Gaynor (V-Sands Point), Megan Bay (V-Naples) and Kerri Harrington (C-Oneonta) for the extraordinary effort it took to bring this amazing opportunity back to NYS in conjunction with NYSTCA. After reading the evaluations, it’s evident that the IIMC Educational Program 2025 was a smashing success and we’re pleased to announce that the program is already booked for 2026 in Latham, NY. If you haven’t attended an IIMC institute, please consider attending, it’s a four day in-person program filled with intense educational classes that facilitate our jobs as Clerks. Think of it as fine tuning of your clerks’ skills.
Lastly, I want to thank the membership for making my first year as President so memorable. Over the past year I’ve attended every NYCOM executive meeting and conference held, went to the IIMC Conference for the first time in St. Louis, had a chance to network with so many amazing people and get the new website up and running building on the amazing work of Immediate Past President Liz Dreaper. Just a reminder to please use and bookmark the new website address: www.nysacvc.org. The old website was supposed to be disabled by CivicPlus, but that hasn’t happened, and we’ve tried to rectify that situation with no avail. We thank you for your patience regarding all the hurdles we’ve experienced bringing the new website live.
